Native Laredoan Dan Clouse, the author of Laredo Stories, A Boyhood on the Río Grande, will read from his work at the Laredo Center for the Arts on Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m.

A 1967 graduate of Nixon High School, he makes this homecoming trip from Lake Bay, WA. to share his experiences growing up in the unique and rich cultural ambience of Laredo of the 1950s and 60s.

The words of this well-written volume are evocative of simpler times in post-World War II Laredo, a town of about 53,000 in the 1950s. Some of Clouse’s anecdotes of mirth and woe  evidence his honed penchant for wry humor. On the whole, however, the writing is lyrical, elegiac, an homage to what he describes as the smalltown milieu of Laredo.

The collaborative efforts of the Daphne Art Foundation, the Laredo Center for the Arts, and the Laredo Cultural District have organized the March 27 reading, platica, and book signing, along with sponsors Hank Sames, Guillermo Benavides, L&F Distributors, Killam Development, stx media, Texas Community Bank, Caffe Dolce, and Zen-trally Located ABNB.
