Dr. Victor Treviño is City’s next mayor; Gonzalez takes District 1 runoff race; King prevails in District 6

A paltry 10.93 percent (15,645) of Laredo’s 143,145 registered voters turned out for the Dec. 17 runoff race to determine the election of the City’s next mayor.

In that race Dr. Victor Treviño won with 8,419 votes, outpacing former District 3 City Council member Mercurio Martinez III, who garnered 7,154 votes.

In the City Council District 1 runoff contest, Gilbert Gonzalez won with 1,269 votes to Patty Tijerina San Miguel’s 832 votes.

Dr. Tyler King took the City Council District 6 runoff with 2,217 votes to Vish Viswanath’s 1,574.
