The Webb County Democratic Party hosts a Meet the Candidates event on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Laredo Firefighters Reception Hall at 5216 Tesoro Plaza.
The forum for the March 1 Primary Election, which can also be viewed on the Party’s Facebook page, begins at 6 p.m.
The roster of candidates expected to participate include District 28 Congressman Henry Cuellar, the longtime incumbent who has served nine terms, and challengers Jessica Cisneros and Tannya Benavides.
The candidates for State Representative District 42 are the incumbent Richard Raymond Peña and challenger Jorge (JD) Delgado.
Others expected to participate are incumbent Webb County Clerk Margie Ramirez Ibarra and challenger Jaime Montes; incumbent Pct. 4 Webb County Commissioner Cindy Liendo and challengers Mike Castañeda and Ricky Jaime; incumbent Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Place 1 Oscar R. Liendo and challengers Christina (Cindy) Mendiola and Ed Gonzalez.
Also, Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Place 1 candidate Gilberto De Leon, Rudy Gonzalez Jr., and Bobby Quintana; and Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 candidates Salvador Johnson and Henry Cortinas.
Among the Webb County Democratic candidates who face no opponent in the March 1 Primary are District 21 State Senator Judith Zaffirini; State Representative for District 80 Tracy O. King; Rebecca (Beckie) Palomo in the race for the unexpired term of Justice for the Fourth Court of Appeals Place 7; 49th District Court Judge Joe López; 111th District Court Judge Monica Zapata Notzon; Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina; Webb County Court at Law No. I Judge Hugo D. Martinez; Webb County Court at Law Judge No. 2 Victor Villarreal; Webb District Clerk Esther Degollado; County Treasurer Raul Reyes; Pct. 2 County Commissioner Wawi Tijerina; and Pct. 2, Place 2 Justice of the Peace Danny Dominguez.
