Braving rain and nippy temperatures, five residents of Casa de Misericordia, harvested three varieties of cauliflower, two of kale, three of broccoli, red cabbage, Swiss chard, purple sweet peas, parsley, cilantro, and bouquets of flowers from the gardens on the grounds of the Canseco House on Chihuahua Street.

Construction superintendent for the City’s division of urban horticulture and forestry, Berman Rivera, was on hand for the harvest.

He noted that volunteers are invited to work at the gardens, Saturday, February 2, from 8 a.m. to noon to clean the Winter garden and make way for the planting of the Spring garden. He said volunteers are welcome to be part of the clean-up and soil preparation.
