Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is hosting a July 8 informational meeting at 10 a.m. at the Yeary Library at Laredo College to address New World Screwworm, future preparedness, and protocols related to it.

As the threat of New World Screwworm continues to impact livestock, wildlife, companion animals, and animal health preparedness, staying informed is more important than ever. This meeting will provide the latest updates on the current situation, surveillance efforts, identification, prevention, and response planning.

Attendees will hear directly from representatives of partnering agencies involved in New World Screwworm preparedness and response efforts, followed by an opportunity to ask questions during a panel discussion.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is encouraged to assist with planning.

Organizers encourage attendees to share information of this meeting with colleagues, agriculture producers, and others who may benefit from attending. Working together and remaining informed are essential to protecting the livestock industry, wildlife resources, and animal health throughout South Texas.
