Thou Shalt Not!

The Texas Republicans in their infinite wisdom decided to violate the U.S Constitution yet again and force every classroom in the state to display the 10 Commandments for unknown reasons.

According to ancient mythology, Yahweh wrote down the original Commandments with his own finger and told every Israelite gathered at the foot of Mt. Sinai what to do in their private lives. The punishment, according to Yahweh for violating any of the 10 Commandments is death, usually by stoning.

After a U.S District Court shut down Texas SB 10 for violation of the First Amendment, the extremely moral and accused adulterer Attorney General Paxton appealed to the 5th circuit Court of Appeals. The self-righteous 5th Circuit Court twisted itself into legal pretzels and said there was nothing unconstitutional about SB10 because they claimed the children were not being forced to read or understand them.

This abomination of a Bill will undoubtedly be appealed to the Supreme Court, where six devout Catholic Justices will likely uphold the 5th Circuit decision and force all Texas school children to ponder the list daily.

It is unknown how many of the children of all races and creeds are Israelites, since Yahweh ordered the Commandments to apply only to them. How will teachers answer questions about adultery and coveting? Will parents who abuse their children still have to be honored? Will businesses that are open on Saturdays or Sunday (both Sabbath Days) have their stores stoned by righteous crowds?

If an atheist teacher tells students about the mythology behind the 10th commandments, will the teacher face suspension or termination?

Will Gov. Abbott tell all schools to fire teachers who doubt the historicity of the Commandments or compare them to the laws of Hammurabi or the Egyptian Laws of the Dead? If a teacher teaches about the Hindu Vedas or Buddhist principles of human nature, will they face censure or admonishment from the principal or the school board?

These Republican bills are nothing more than a distraction from the fact that the State and Federal government cares nothing about feeding hungry children and healthcare for everyone needing it. They are feel-good measures for Christian nationalists who despise brown- skinned immigrants and even darker skinned voters nationwide.
