The local event mirrors the nationwide NO KINGS MASS PROTESTS being organized and sponsored by a large coalition of national sponsors as a peaceful stand against authoritarian overreach and the gross abuse of power exerted by the Trump administration. More than 1,800 such peaceful protests will take place across the country on Saturday.
The local call to organize in Laredo came from Webb County Democratic Party Chair Sylvia Bruni who communicated thus:
“We are rising up against tyranny, against a wannabe king with no throne. We are rising up for each other.
“On June 14 we say NO to kings, NO to authoritarianism, NO to the billionaire class calling the shots. We say YES to community power, dignity, and justice for all, no matter where we come from, how we worship, or who we love.
“This is a peaceful, powerful protest for Economic Justice, Real Democracy, not corporate rule; Immigrant Rights and racial equity; Climate Justice and community survival.
“As authoritarian threats rise across this country, Laredo will not be silent. We are not a border to be exploited – we are a border of resilience, culture, and resistance. We will not be ruled.
