Nothing beats a day of hot rods, tuners, supercars, and the occasional custom built in a car show focused on helping students get their education. For over 10 years, the Laredo College Car Show has seen hundreds of participants rev up for education and will see them again on Saturday, April 12 at the LC South Campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

If the allure of participants’ pride and joy on display is not enough, the car show will also host a kite festival that begins at noon.

“Car shows are a hub for automotive enthusiasts to connect, share their passion and build friendships,” LC Transportation Technology Department Chair Alfredo García said. “Whether it’s discussing the latest modifications, sharing tips or simply admiring each other’s work, the sense of community is strong.”

As with every LC car show in the past, every participant is making a difference in the lives of students. Funds raised from the event go directly toward scholarships that help students pursue their educational and career goals, García said. LC student organizations will be on-site selling refreshments and food items to fundraise for their organization’s benefit.

A mainstay in the institution’s slate of events, the LC Car Show is designed to be family-friendly, with activities and attractions for all ages. It’s a great outing for families, where everyone can enjoy and learn more about the automotive world. Participants will also have a shot to receive a trophy from 28 categories, including seven top awards.

The LC Transportation Technology Department offers a curriculum for those who wish to pursue careers in automotive technology.
