On Saturday, March 29, filmmaker Isaac Garza will host a hands-on workshop on directing short films, focusing on the crucial pre-production process of how to be a driver of your project, how to develop a strong visual approach, and how to assemble a skilled, collaborative team to bring your vision to life.

Drawing from his experience with award-winning shorts and a background in improv, Garza will share practical strategies to set up your film for success before you even step on set. Participants will get an inside look at Garza’s pre-production materials for his previous films that will include storyboards, camera tests, blocking diagrams, and more.

Garza, originally from Laredo, is currently based in Austin.

His short film Pepito won the inaugural HBO Latinx Short Film Competition, and his directorial debut, Chemistry, won Best Latino Short at the Oscar-qualifying Cleveland International Film Festival.

The cost of the workshop, which takes place at LFS HQ (510 San Agustín, Suite B), is $20.
