The City and Keep Laredo Beautiful (KLB) will host Keep Laredo Beautiful Day on Sat., Dec. 14, at Blas Castaneda Park, 5700 McPherson Rd. A Dec. 13 proclamation at City Hall will declare the 14th Keep Laredo Beautiful Day.
Events on the 14th begin with community-focused activities including tree planting, giveaways, educational booths, and interactive environmental activities.
The tree planting begins at 8:00 a.m.
KLB Day emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship and community involvement in creating a cleaner, greener, healthier Laredo. Tree planting is crucial in improving the local ecosystem by reducing stormwater pollution, enhancing the urban canopy, and contributing to the water and heat balance in the environment. Trees filter water, improve air quality, and provide shade that reduces urban heat. They also encourage the sustainable practices of xeriscaping, recycling, and water conservation.
The goal of Keep Laredo Beautiful Day is to inspire the community to care for the environment through hands-on participation and educational opportunities that are meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future.
