“Cartas con Causa,” a fundraising Lotería night on Friday, Sept. 6, at Laredo College’s (LC) Maravillo Gym will benefit MD Anderson Cancer Center’s ongoing efforts to advance cancer treatment and research.
The special fundraiser, which is co-hosted by LC and International Bank of Commerce (IBC), will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the community.
Different-priced Lotería cards will be sold, and prizes include Keurig coffee makers, microwaves, toaster ovens, AirPods, 32-inch TVs, and spa gift baskets valued at $150 and more.
U.S. News and World Report recognizes MD Anderson as the nation’s top hospital for cancer care. The center is renowned for its advanced treatment options, cutting-edge research and commitment to providing the best possible care for cancer patients.
“We are thrilled to have Laredo College students engaged in the cause,” said Gabriel Castillo, Corporate Marketing Director and Coordinator for the IBC Bank MD Anderson Cancer Research Center fundraising campaign throughout Texas and Oklahoma. “We are profoundly grateful to Dr. Minita Ramírez, the Laredo College staff and students for taking on this fundraising effort.”
Laredo College Student Life Director Pedro Rivera said LC students will be actively involved by helping call out the cards, verify winners, and create a welcoming environment for everyone in attendance. “The prizes are fantastic, and all proceeds will go directly to supporting MD Anderson. We hope to see you there,” Rivera said.
