The public is invited to the Laredo College International Car Show, which is sponsored by Gonzalez Auto Parts, at the LC South Campus on April 20. The free event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. promises a look at some of the sleekest and most unforgettable classic rides.

This showcase, which celebrates vehicular showmanship and offers a kite event for children, promises to be a visual treat at the sight of over 200 cars, trucks, and bikes.

LC student organizations will host food booths as fundraisers to meet their semester plans and goals.

Laredo’s interest in car culture goes back decades, as evidenced by the striking restorations often seen on City streets and at the shows of local car clubs.

Clubs and associations are welcome to compete in the LC International Car Show’s 30 award categories, each with a first and second place award. The categories are varied and include classic rides, street rods, low riders, and kids’ power wheels.

LC is proud to celebrate the partnership with Jo Gage of Gonzalez Auto Parts as the International Car Show’s first-ever sponsor. “Many families come together at car show events. The vehicles on display at car shows often represent the work of sons and daughters, and mothers and fathers,” Gage said. “It’s an honor for a family business like Gonzalez Auto Parts – blessed to serve the community for 90 years – to sponsor this event and to see the pride of participants in their vehicles.”

He added, “Vehicles and their care, repair, and maintenance have an impact on the local economy. A career in the automotive field is a good choice for members of our community.”

The LC International Car Show offers an incentive for auto technology students to view firsthand the many techniques and applications that have kept participating vehicles running and how they were restored and reconditioned.

The Laredo College Transportation Technology Department offers classes in all facets of Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision and Repair Technology, and Diesel Engine Mechanics and Repair.
