MAJORITY, the leader in mobile banking for migrants in the U.S., officially opens its doors to the Laredo migrant community with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
MAJORITY announced its expansion to the migrant-dense city in June of this year to provide financial services and community aid for migrants crossing the border from Mexico.
Their location at 1110 Zaragoza St. will serve as a community meet-up space for immigrants to connect, share experiences, and access social and financial resources. The company’s location positions MAJORITY strategically at the base of The Gateway to the Americas International Bridge, offering migrants the fastest path to a U.S. bank account.
Membership in MAJORITY offers a variety of different immigrant-focused services, including a bank account and debit card, community discounts, fee-free international money transfers, and discounted international calling.
In 2021, MAJORITY opened registration for customers without a Social Security number (SSN) or U.S. documentation, instead requiring only an international government-issued ID and proof of U.S. address, to make MAJORITY’S financial services even more accessible to immigrants across the country.
Among those present at the Sept. 6 ribbon cutting will be MAJORITY’s Marketing Director of Mexico, Alana Taylor; the company’s head of New Markets, Juan Pablo D’Alessandro; Laredo Chamber of Commerce Interim President, Miguel Conchas; and Chamber Executive Director Monica Martinez and members of the Bienvenidos Committee.
Following the brief ceremony, MAJORITY will host the community for bagels courtesy of Gateway Bagel Company, coffee courtesy of Café Radical, and a raffle for concert tickets.
Parking for the grand opening is available at La Posada Hotel, which is adjacent to MAJORITY.
