PILLAR’s Project Re-entry and Treatment Network receives $2,000,000 in federal funding

PILLAR (People with Ideas of Love, Liberty, Acceptance, and Respect) – the Laredo non-profit mental health organization that provides counseling and educational services to people dealing with behavioral health and/or substance use issues – is the recipient of $2,000,000 in federal funding for the organization’s Project Re-Entry and Treatment Network.

The good news was announced at a press conference Monday, Aug.14 by Congressman Henry Cuellar.

The funds will be used to provide re-entry services, treatment, and recovery support services for nearly 330 individuals in Laredo.

Founded in 2011 by Manuel Sanchez and Arturo Diaz Jr., 

PILLAR has grown into a behavioral health center, a licensed outpatient substance abuse treatment center, STD testing and treatment clinic, and drug testing facility. Its full services are detailed at pillarstrong.org.

Among the organization’s many goals are to reduce bullying, suicide, substance abuse/use behaviors, and to increase access to services. The facility also serves as a training center for future behavioral health professionals.
