Cultivarte Laredo has opened its third Call for Proposals for its Residency initiatives to support artists in South Texas.

Artists living in Laredo are invited to apply for the Cultivarte Studio Residency, known as C-Studio. This is a two-month program that offers a supportive stipend of $800 and free studio space, located in the downtown area. Four artists will be selected.

C-Studio is offered collaboratively with the Laredo Center for the Arts and the generous support of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust.

The residencies offer ai artists time and space conducive to focused production of art. Throughout the studio residency, the community will be invited to visit during open studio nights. These events are intended to increase accessibility to the artistic spaces, and allow artists to engage with the community about their creative process, and receive feedback directly in their studios.

Now in its third year, Cultivartes Virtual Artist-in-Residency program, V-AiR, invites artists from Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley to apply for this nontraditional, remote residency. Three artists will be selected and granted a $1,250 stipend to support the development of new artwork. V-AiR Artists must be willing to engage with a virtual community throughout their tenure.

Selected artists from both programs will receive guidance from a mentor and will participate in active, constructive critique. Both residencies will also culminate in a collective exhibition in the fall.

Cultivarte Laredo is a program of Daphne Art Foundation, which has set out to foster the growth of the local art community by offering professional resources locally. The organization recognizes the unique virtuosity that circulates the border region, cultivated by the seemingly paradoxical divide of nations in such culture-oriented communities. Cultivartes mission is to promote art and artists in a community in which passion for the arts has found itself disregarded. Cultivarte supports the interconnected nature of creativity that will flourish in border cities to ignite the dispersion of culture-rich, transformative experiences in South Texas and Northern Mexico.

The call all for Proposals for Cultivarte Laredos Artist-in-Residency programs closes on Saturday, March 11. There is no application fee. For more information and for all details on how to apply please visit www.cultiv-arte.org.
