With more than 600,000 Americans dying each year from heart disease – many living along the Texas/Mexico border – the Cigarroa Clinic is encouraging Laredoans to ‘Do your part, Care for your Heart!’

The prevalence of high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity among the Hispanic population has prompted Cigarroa Clinic to plan several events in February, offering the community complimentary healthy heart and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) screenings on Saturday, February 11, at the WBCA Fun Run and Health Fair at Uni-Trade Stadium. The first 100 visitors to the Cigarroa booth will receive a complimentary heart-healthy goody bag.

On Tuesday, February 14, the Cigarroa Surgical Center celebrates its third anniversary at 7105 N Bartlett Ave., Suite 201. The public is invited to an open house and tour of the state-of-the-art surgical center. The open house begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. A brief ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m.

The center’s team of interventional cardiologists and medical providers will be on hand to share some of the latest advancements in interventional cardiology now new to Laredo.\

On Saturday, February 25, the Cigarroa Clinic will partner with Gateway Community Health Center for a Healthy Heart Health Fair at 1702 Lafayette St. to offer free healthy heart and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) screenings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..

Along with these life-saving measures, there will be plenty of additional booths providing giveaways and educational information. The first 100 visitors to be screened for PAD will receive a complimentary heart-healthy goody bag.

For more information on any of these events, call the Cigarroa Clinic at (956) 725-1228 or Gateway Community Health Center at (956) 625-3046.
