The local Republican Party, which recently brought us Cancun Cruz to ask us to support Cassie, is ecstatic that their cult leader is attempting a comeback. Since 45 never conceded and still claims he won in a landslide, how can he run again? Did his army of disbarred lawyers find a loophole in the Constitution? Mr. de la Garza says 45 will “bring back policies that made America great”. The BP union president can’t wait to bring the Trump Train wreck back to Laredo. Since all of Cruz’s recent endorsements lost, I would characterize it as a clown car. In 2016, Cruz told reporters that 45 lies every time he opens his mouth. Now 45 is their savior and cult leader.
Is it possible your beloved leader could have gotten worse since being kicked out of the White House kicking and screaming? Unsurprisingly the answer is yes. He is currently under five criminal and civil investigations. The most serious is the classified documents fiasco where a federal search was necessary after Trump took home over 11,000 government documents (100 top secret/classified) and refused to relinquish them to the National Archives. We will never know which foreign government (Chinese, Russian, N. Korean) had access to them. He has never once told the American people why they were at Mar-A-Lago in the first place. As is his custom, he appealed the search warrant and got a special master appointed by one of the judges he nominated. Documents dealing with national security. He considered them “his” papers.
The Jan. 6th Committee investigation. Anyone watching these hearings can only reach one conclusion: Trump and his incompetent attorneys planned to overthrow the government by violent insurrection. Unless all you watch is Fox News. Then you would not know anything. So far, your corrupt ex-leader is ignoring the committee’s subpoena to appear and explain his unconstitutional and illegal actions on that day.
The Manhattan D.A. investigation of the Trump organization’s shenanigans. Trump appeared under oath and pled the 5th amendment (right against self-incrimination) 440 times. A first for any president, former or present. His answers will be used at a subsequent civil trial as admissions.
The Georgia presidential election investigation in which Trump is recorded asking the Secretary of State to illegally overthrow the Georgia election results by “finding” 11,780 votes in his favor. S.C. Senator Lindsey Graham fought a legal subpoena all the way to the Supreme Court so he wouldn’t have to appear in court. The Supreme Court turned him down.
He is the only president to be impeached twice in one term. Evidence in both cases was overwhelming, but the spineless Republican senators including Cornyn and Cruz refused to convict him. This conman charged the US taxpayers over 2.5 million dollars every time he used one of his golf courses and hotel accommodations. Trump spent 378 days at his properties during his term, golfing, or dining with dignitaries. Trump is the first defeated ex-president to announce his candidacy from the scene of a crime: Mar-a-Lago. Trump favors murderous dictators and kept “love letters” from Kim Jung Un. His private conversations with Putin are safe from public scrutiny. The interpreter’s notes were ordered destroyed. If you ask any current Maga devotee, they will excuse his criminal behavior as unfair, a hoax, or a witch hunt. Trump has used these excuses hundreds of times over the years. Any reputable business would reject Trump for any position after doing a cursory background check. The FBI would not recommend him for any government job. Unfortunately, under our Constitution, candidates do not face similar scrutiny. All his bombastic promises were lies but guaranteed him enormous contributions. When 81 million U.S. voters kicked him out, he refused to leave and did not help President Biden make a peaceful orderly transition. Trump wanted to continue his dictatorship forever.
My personal opinion is that 45 is a narcissistic sociopath who lives in his own dream world. Either that or he must have started drinking or over medicating. His announcement was rambling and uninspiring. He swore he had been president for “decades and decades” and kept us out of war. The vets who served under him in Afghanistan must have been surprised they were not in a shooting war, since Trump has never respected the military and paid a so-called doctor to exempt him for mysteriously disappearing “bone spurs.”
Taking a clue from Mafia bosses, he appointed family members to top posts in his Administration including his daughter and son-in-law who profited handsomely for doing nothing.
History will show the past Administration was the most corrupt in US history. His cult members and religious zealots continue to support him and send him cash, like they send their mega preachers. They end up getting the same result. Mr. de la Garza and the BP Union guy must be proud of their endorsement. They are in dubious company. So far, the main supporters of 45 are the Pillow Guy, Matt Gaetz, M.T. Greene, and Lauren Boebert. Texas’ own Paxton has sung his praises as well.
They loved 45’s hatred filled speeches. They loved him sucking up to murderous world dictators. They loved his Anti-Muslim, anti-Mexican and anti-black nation’s outbursts. Now that AG Garland has appointed a special prosecutor, Trump lawyers better start preparing to defend at least three serious federal charges: Espionage, Theft of government property, and Obstruction of Department of Justice investigations.
They want more of the same. If justice still prevails after all Federal judges do their duty to the Constitution, America may yet see a presidential candidate running for the highest office in the land while under indictment or behind bars. May our beloved Republic survive another 244 years as a world leader in Democracy. It will take years to get the putrid taste of Trump from our month.
