Candidates for City Council and the Mayor’s race will square off in a series of forums hosted by the City of Laredo and Laredo TV. They will be staged at the Falcon Executive Conference Room at the Laredo College Yeary Library (201 West End Washington St.)
The forums slated for his evening, Oct. 11, are for Districts 1 and 2.
The District 1 forum begins at 6 p.m. All four candidates – Gigi Rodriguez, Maxine Rebeles, Gilbert Gonzalez, and Patty Tijerina San Miguel – have confirmed their participation.
The District 2 forum begins at 7:30 p.m. with candidate Daisy Rodriguez confirming her participation. Candidate Ricardo Rangel Jr. will not be present.
The forums for District 3 and 6 are set for Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
All District 3 candidates – Jerry Perez, Melissa R. Cigarroa, Abraham “Abey” Lugo, and Eric Wickstrom – have confirmed their participation, as have all five District 6 candidates – L. Vish Viswanath, Rafael Dueñes, Rick Laurel, Fernando Baldazo, and Dr. Tyler King.
The forum for candidates for Mayor is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. Of the field of 10 candidates, eight confirmed their participation. They are Dr. Victor Treviño, Juan Manuel Garza, Kobby Bryand, Gus (Gunny) Gonzalez, Roque Vela Jr., Poncho Casso, Cynthia Mares, and Mercurio (Merc) Martinez III. Candidates Felipe (Flipper) Ramirez and Louis H. Bruni will not be participating.
