“Disparate Inclinations” exhibit opens at Laredo College Sept. 29

Laredo College’s upcoming art exhibition, “Disparate Inclinations,” opens Thurs., Sept. 29 at the Martha Fenstermaker Memorial Visual Arts Gallery with a reception and a spoken word performance by artist and writer Maritza Bautista.

The curated exhibit features the work of three LC art faculty – Lestat Alexander, Mary Bausman and Eva Soliz – and Laredo artists Bautista, Emily Bayless, Erika Ordoñez, and Ashley Tristán.

The exhibition includes ceramics, paintings, mixed/digital media, mixed media, and Bautista’s poem “El Tren.”

“The title of the exhibit, ‘Disparate Inclinations,’ reflects the diversity in style, materials and content in the artists’ work, as well as the different perspectives of each artist. Each has their own ‘Disparate Inclinations’ in their work,” said featured artist and Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair Eva Soliz.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 28. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
