Ten Laredo College students are among South Texas college students who are scholarship recipients from the Be It! Foundation.
The students – Harley Dam, Veronica De la O, Marianna Talamante, Samantha A. Alvarado, Viviana I. Rodriguez, Alejandra Ortiz, Claudia Rodriguez, Ruben Castillo, Tatiana A. Ramon, and Dora A. Cerda – were recognized at a luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Falcon Bank Executive Conference Room.
The Be It! Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving South Texas seeks to increase community well-being, decrease mental health stigma, and improve mental health quality services by strengthening the education and skills of providers in the community.
Twenty-nine mental health providers from San Antonio to Laredo who were awarded a Be It! Fellowship were trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) in October 2021. Additional providers were also trained and given templates to conduct psychological evaluations as well. Those providers will also be honored at the awards luncheon.
The Be It! Foundation welcomes generous donors to sponsor scholarships for college students in South Texas and to fund service-learning fellowships for training established providers to increase the quality of care and emergency funding for basic needs and the “You Matter” mental health stigma prevention campaign.
