Laredo College and Cultivarte Laredo invite the public to a showcase of contemporary art that opens Thursday, April 21 at the Martha Fenstermaker Memorial Visual Arts Gallery inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Ft. McIntosh campus.

Entitled “Reflective Fluctuations,” the exhibit offers contemporary pieces from seven talented local artists — Allan Gindic, Carlos Grajeda, Noël Heller, Shellee Laurent, Lizett Montiel, Pedro Morales. and Cristina Zorrilla Speer. Their work includes paintings, ceramic pieces, video, and an audio visual installation.

“We invite the audience to cultivate their own ideas and to reimagine how art exists,” Cultivarte Laredo Executive Director Maritza Bautista said. “It creates spaces within all of us to reimagine or reflect and connect with conversations that declare the artist’s presence.”

Bautista is also an experienced artist and educator that leads the organization to reach its mission to provide resources and support for local artists. She is the curator for this exhibit.

The exhibit will run from April 21 through August 11. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Admission is free and open to the public. Health and safety protocols will be in place. The use of face masks is highly recommended.
