The City of Laredo COVID-19 testing operation has been relocated to the Sames Auto Arena parking lot and will no longer be at the Laredo Public Library. The location change will help facilitate the operation and ensure safety.
Beginning Tuesday, January 11 and through Monday, January 24, Lardoans can be tested via drive-through Monday to Friday starting at 8:00 a.m.
The tests will be administered by Vara Health, which can perform up to one thousand tests a day. Those requesting tests are required to fill out a form while they wait in line. A notification about four days after the test will advise of a link at which to view results.
It is anticipated that the Vara site will help alleviate the demand for testing in Laredo over the next two weeks.
Curative, Inc., which operates seven testing locations throughout the city, reports that it has filled its appointment capacity. Company representatives have said they are working with the supply chain to secure and provide more testing and that they will add 200 additional appointments for each of their sites in Laredo.
The additional three sites that the City of Laredo requested of Curative a week ago will tentatively be operational Wednesday, January 12. Refer to the Curative website at curative.com for further information.
Those three additional locations are:
- Fire Station #5 parking lot, 200 E. Stewart – Monday-Sunday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Northeast Hillside Rec Center, 5700 McPherson – Monday-Sunday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- North Central Park parking Lot, 2619 San Isidro Parkway – Monday-Sunday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
The City has provided a list of additional sites for free COVID-19 testing, though some may require appointments:
- City of Laredo Health Dept. (2600 Cedar Ave.)
- Urgent Care (2344 Laguna Del Mar Blvd.)
- Vital Med Urgent Care North & South Clinic (5711 McPherson Rd.) (3120 La Pita Mangana Rd. No. 100)
- South Laredo Family Clinic (2110 Lomas Del Sur)
- La Familia Clinic (1105 Corpus Christi St.)
