Laredoans are invited to take part in some serious holiday merry-making on Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Peter’s Plaza.
“It’s A Wonderful Laredo” Christmas Fest, an afternoon-to-evening event, brings the historic plaza to life with a vendors market, live music and performances, a visit with Santa and his elves, a donation drive, and food trucks.
Entertainment includes PianoMan Fernando Davil, violinists D’Strinx, the Cigarroa High School Orchestra, the Martin High School Mariachi and Band, and local ska group The Five Oh’s.
The festival culminates with the screening of the classic holiday film, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” the 1946 Christmas fantasy film directed by Frank Capra.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. Attendees are urged to bring blankets for comfort at the screening. Though plenty of seating will be available, organizers encourage bringing a comfortable folding chair.
Sponsors include District 8 City Council member Alyssa Cigarroa, the City of Laredo, Big Buck 98.1, the Laredo Film Society, Laredo Main Street, the Webb County Historic Commission, and Z93FM.
St. Peter’s Plaza in the St. Peter’s Historic Neighborhood is one block east of Santa María and is bounded by Houston and Matamoros streets.
