Altares, ballet folklorico, outdoor market, film screening on tap for Laredo Center for the Arts Dia de los Muertos Celebration

The Laredo Center for the Arts Annual Dia de los Muertos Cultural Celebration opens Tuesday, Nov. 2, with a procession at 5 p.m. from the Center to San Agustin Cathedral for Mass.

The Mariachi Arrieros will accompany the procession back to the Center for the Arts for an evening packed with entertainment, art workshops, performances of Ballet Folklorico, a Catrin and Catrina contest, an exhibit of altares and contest, an animated film screening, and an outdoor market of vendors of food, baked goods, art, jewelry, hand crafts, and plants.

Among the schools and entities performing Ballet Folklorico are Dovalina Elementary, the VMT Magnet School, TAMIU, the Instituto Cultural Mexicano de Laredo, and the Gabriela Mendoza GarcĂ­a Ballet Folklorico.

The Laredo Center for the Arts is located at 500 San Agustin Ave.
