The Webb County Heritage Foundation will team up with the Laredo Film Society to host two evenings of “Movies on the Patio” starting Friday, October 1 at the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum, 810 Zaragoza St. at 7:30 p.m.
Marking the 67th anniversary of the first time Godzilla appeared to terrify movie-going audiences, the two films featured will showcase the forerunner to Godzilla from 1953 and the latest Godzilla offering from 2021.
The first film is The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953), which was the precursor to all subsequent Godzilla films. The following Friday, October 8, will feature the most recent in the Godzilla franchise, Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). The films will be presented outdoors on the patio of the Border Heritage Museum.
In addition, the Laredo Film Society will host a Movie Trivia Game prior to the start of the movie on Friday, Oct. 1, and present locally made short horror films on Oct. 8.
Admission is free and open to the public, and donations are encouraged. Seating is provided, including some limited table seating. Audience members are invited to dress in costume and participate during the movie with sound effects.
Come enjoy a spooky movie evening under the stars in historic, downtown (haunted) Laredo. In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.
