The 2021 Inner City Housing Summit, which is sponsored by the Laredo Housing Authority (LARHA), is set for Sept. 29 at Laredo College.
The annual forum — which is open to realtors, landlords, builders, and developers; non-profit organizations; representatives of city and county government; the general public; and advocates of affordable and equitable housing — seeks to form alliances between diverse sectors of the community to empower them to pursue inner city redevelopment opportunities.
Among the tools and strategies to be shared with attendees are Inner City Reinvestment Study Metrics, Incentive Policies to Promote Redevelopment, Attracting Private Capital and Partners, Kick-starting Affordable Housing Development, Upcoming TIRZ Downtown Improvements, and Innovations in Micro-Housing.
The recent inner city advances the LARHA has completed include the revitalization of 138 homes at its Russell Terrace site; three new homes at Bernal Sunrise Courts; an urban infill study that identifies vacant lots within the inner city; the nine-unit Balcones Heights apartment complex; and the establishment of a Bibliotech library at Russell Terrace. A second Bibliotech site will open soon at the Anna María Lozano complex.
Limited tickets are available for the summit at INNERCITYREVIVAL.ORG
Information on sponsorship opportunities is available at eaguilar@larha.org or by calling (956) 267-6573.
The summit will provide a unique avenue to create alliances among diverse sectors and empower its leaders through education and practical tools to pursue inner city redevelopment opportunities while overcoming social challenges.
If you feel investment in the inner city is not for you, all the more reason you shouldn’t miss out.
