The 8th U.S. – México Regional Bi-national Health Conference on Diseases and Emergencies Updates is underway Thursday and Friday in virtual format from 8:30a.m. to noon.
The conference — which is sponsored by the Texas Department of State Health Services Office of Border Public Health and the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of the Mid Rio Grande Border Area of Texas, Inc. — features public health authorities from Texas and Tamaulipas speaking on high impact public health issues that affect border region communities.
Simultaneous English/Spanish translations are available.
The annual program has been the platform for a bi-national exchange dedicated to empower health care providers, community leaders, public health officials, and communities along the border, and South Texas, with valuable information about diseases and health issues prevalent in the region.
Participants will learn of the latest modalities to prevent, treat, and report public health cases in their respective communities. This year’s program includes experts in public health presenting on Migrants and Health, Laredo COVID-19 Pandemic Overview, COVID-19 Vaccines, Covid and Mental Health.
The conference promotes information sharing and discussion among the participants and guest speakers. Continuing education credits are available for various professions. There is no cost for registration.
