The Laredo College Board of Trustees has approved the 2021 Tuition is on Us Program to assist students with a tuition discount. This program is the latest in a string of initiatives spearheaded by various college departments to help students pay for college.
Vice President of Student Success and Enrollment Dr. Federico Solis said the incentive will significantly help start or re-engage the goal of a college education.
The tuition discount is available for students registered in online, face-to-face, or hybrid courses in the 2021 fall semester or 2nd Start. No application to qualify is needed, but some restrictions may apply to registered students.
New students who incur a tuition charge at the point of registration will have it automatically discounted from their account. Those who had already registered for the fall semester will now see the tuition discounted from their bill.
The tuition discount will also be applied if a grant does not cover students enrolled in continuing education and self-enrichment courses. Dual enrollment students do not qualify for this discount since they are not charged for their classes.
This incentive is possible through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) allocated toward student balances. HEERF is a federal grant program that helps colleges and universities discharge student debt due to the coronavirus.
To register for the fall semester and to receive the tuition discount, contact the Laredo College Admissions Department by emailing admissions@laredo.edu, calling (956) 721-5109, (956) 794-4110 or by visiting www.laredo.edu.
