Surge in active COVID-19 cases prompts City to ask Laredoans to use facemasks, get tested, and receive vaccine

The City of Laredo Health Department reports 276 active COVID-19 cases, which reflects an increase of 70 additional cases in one day. The majority of these cases are people who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The City is encouraging the use of facemasks, to staying home if ill, being tested, and receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. In the event of a positive COVID-19 test result, it is recommended to stay home for a minimum of 10 days.

The marked increase has pharmacies and multiple sites offering COVID-19 vaccines daily. Those sites include:

Beginning Monday, August 2, the Laredo Municipal Court will begin offering vaccines on Mondays and Tuesdays.
