Organizers of RGISC’s 27th annual meeting are asking those who tune in to become members of the non-profit environmental organization whose work has been critical to the health of the Rio Grande-Rio Bravo environment.

Membership is critical to supporting RGISC’s sustainability. According to executive director Tricia Cortez, “There are many benefits to membership, among them becoming a part of a rich community, but perhaps the greatest is the knowledge you are helping to solve our future generations’ hardest problems.

If you care about water security for Laredo and climate impacts, and you support our environmental mission, we encourage you to join us this Saturday. This is a terrific way to join a community of like-minded individuals, get involved, and help make Laredo a greener and better place to live,” she added.

The meeting will highlight the organization’s milestones over the past year, elect a new board of directors; recognize its 2021 Community Award recipients; and preview some of its current work.

The awardees are Maxine Rebeles, Educator of the Year; Alma Hinojosa, Junior Volunteer of the Year; Nadja López and Family, Dr. James M. Earhart Volunteer of the Year; Danny Gunn, Danny D. Gunn Green Heart Award; and Gan Golan, Community Champ.

All newly paid memberships will be entered into two raffles.

Bundle 1: $100 VISA cash card; Teal Yeti Mug; and a $50 gift certificate to the new Fit2Plant nursery downtown ($180 value)

Bundle 2: $200 Cash; RTIC camo day cooler backpack ($250 value)
