“Donald Trump started his campaign with hate-filled rhetoric about Mexicans, and his time in power will end as he highlights the most divisive symbol of his presidency, a wall that tears apart our border communities. In a week where we’ve seen the dangers of Trumpism and Trump’s incendiary rhetoric, Donald Trump is going back to his most dangerous and hate-filled playbook.
“Instead of focusing on distributing the vaccine for Texans most at-risk, apologizing for inciting domestic terrorists to attack our nation’s Capitol, or working to ensure a smooth transition for President-elect Biden, Donald Trump is once again coming to Texas to highlight his stupid wall that no one wanted, that he failed to build, and that Mexico did not pay for.
“Texans and Americans everywhere are struggling. In South Texas, those struggles are the difference between life and death. South Texans need a real plan for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, $2,000 checks so every South Texas family has a better chance at economic security, and a real jobs plan rooted in helping working people to build our economy back better.”
Thank you, Chairman Hinojosa. There seems to be something ominous about Trump’s choosing Alamo, Texas to exalt his despotic and very harmful diplomatic ignorance. Someone may have chosen that little South Texas border town because of it’s namesake. No, not the cottonwood tree, but the name of the abandoned mission, San Antonio de Valero, aka “The Alamo”, where close to 3oo mostly Anglo interlopers and usurpers sacrificed their lives fighting a Mexican President/General who wished to teach them a lesson of unforgiving dictatorship. General Santa Anna called the Texicans and Tejanos “pirates” and took no prisoners. He ordered General Urrea at Goliad to execute the Texicans who’d surrendered at Coleto Creek as well. Sounds cool in the face of all the lies by people calling themselves “patriots” and ransacking the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
All the brouhaha now in the last whimpering days of Donnie Trump’s deluded attempt to make our country an autocratic dictatorship will soon be over, but we won’t rest easy until the truth and justice brings Trump and his “pirates” are made examples and brought to justice; culpability that cost lives, damage and insurrection should not have repercussions. After juries find these dolts guilty of aiding, abetting and inciting to assault the Congress, they deserve no less than incarceration.
Ooops, forgive my faux pas. I meant “should have repercussions”, that is… should be punished as examples to deter stupid people form harming our democratic republic, a nation that has lasted two and a half centuries from the hard work, sacrifice and giving of lives of dutiful citizens.
