I wish to offer a historical perspective on the President’s recorded phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State. In 1948 Lyndon Johnson lost a very close race to Coke Stevenson in a race for the U.S. Senate by a razor thin margin.
Someone called George Parr of San Diego Texas, the Duke of Duval, and asked if more votes could be “found” to help out LBJ. The infamous ballot box 13 in Alice, Texas was miraculously found and every single one of the 200 votes, which were in alphabetical order were for Lyndon Johnson. At the end the final vote tally was 87 more votes for LBJ, which ensured his victory. It was appealed to the Supreme Court, which declined to hear the case because the Chief Justice, Hugo Black, ruled that the Supreme Court could not get involved in State elections.
Lyndon’s friends famously called him “Landslide Lyndon” after the election. Since the current President has no shame, or fear of prosecution from the D.O.J., he asked the Republican Secretary of State from Georgia to “find” him 11,780 votes somewhere, one more than he needed to win. He tells the Secretary of State, on tape, to recalculate the votes, saying there is nothing wrong with that.
As the nation learned a year ago, the impeachment trial against the President was a total sham because Mitch McConnel refused to hear from any witness against the President regarding the now infamous “perfect call” to the Ukraine President. Trump was of course acquitted.
I urge my fellow citizens to listen to Representative Adam Schiff from California, who gave one of the finest closing arguments in support of the Constitution and the Oath of Office I have ever heard. Congressman Schiff on February 3, 2020, stated in part, “We must say enough – enough. He has betrayed our national security and he will do it again. He has compromised our elections, and he will do it again. You will not change him. You cannot constrain him. He is who he is. Truth matters little to him. What’s right matters even less, and decency matters not at all. What are the odds, if left in office that he will continue trying to cheat? I will tell you – 100%. A man without character, or ethical compass will never find his way. Trump’s Constitutional crimes, his crime against the American people and the nation, remain in progress.”
Ken Starr, who recommended President Clinton be impeached over a consensual sexual indiscretion told the Senators at the hearing, that if they voted to remove Trump, they would be telling voters that your vote in the last election is therefore declared null and void. White House counsel Pat Coppolone, lamented thusly, “At the end of the day, this is an effort to overturn the result of an election, and interfere in the coming election that begins today in Iowa. The only appropriate result here is to acquit the President and leave it to the voters to choose their President.”
After the hour-long recording of the impeached President committing several Federal and State election crimes, I would love to ask Mr. Starr and Mr. Coppolone, if they stand by their previous statements 11 months ago, especially after 7 million more voters chose President Elect Biden over the biggest loser on November 3, 2020.
I am discontent that you allowed to forward a letter from from Mr. Almaraz with respect to his personal opinion regarding our still president Mr. Donald J. Trump. Will you publish my personal opinion about it too? I’m sure there are too many Trump supporters that are in disagreement with any negative comments and remarks shared in this section.
Trump is a criminal. Period. The citizens who follow him are either deluded, gullible or simply lacking in common sense. Regardless of his mental shortcomings, Trump belongs in a cage. Alone and not with monkeys… that would constitute animal cruelty.
Poor Sarmiento, credulously evincing selective censoring, something psychologists term confirmation bias. This occurs from direct influence of desires or beliefs. When people like a certain idea or concept to be true, they end up believing it to be true. They are motivated by wishful thinking. This error leads him to stop short of believing reality, they stop gathering information when the evidence so far confirms the views or prejudices they would like to be true. Once the view is formed, they ignore or reject reality. Confirmation bias means he won’t perceive with objectivity, picking bits of data that makes him feel good because they confirm his prejusices.
And what would he do if the Orange Ogre continued in power? Would Sarmiento blindly continue the dimunition of American civil rights that Trump has perversely and lyingly convinced weakminded sycophants to give him brute power? And at what expense? Loss of liberty?
Ooooops!
“… his prejudices. “
