The Webb County Heritage Foundation is requesting the public’s help to identify the vehicle or its driver that crashed into the gate and sign of the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum at 2:15 a.m. on December 12. The two videos included with this story clearly show an SUV turning, wheels screeching, onto the 800 block of Zaragoza and never slowing before plowing out of control into the gate and the museum sign. The vehicle likely has extensive front end, grill, and radiator damage.
“It’s such a sad thing to happen to our beautiful facility in this holiday season,” said Margarita Araiza, WCHF Executive Director. “Like most non-profits, we’ve been working hard trying to keep up our level of activities and funding during the pandemic, and for this kind of random destruction to happen now just makes us more determined to carry on. We hope to restore the property as soon as possible for enjoyment by the public in the New Year.”
