Winners announced in“100 Years of Women’s Right to Vote Virtual Art Contest”

City of Laredo and District 5 Council Member Nelly Vielma, along with Laredo Public Libraries, hosted the 100 Years of Women’s Right to Vote Virtual Art Contest. Artists from different schools and the community submitted more than 30 pieces to participate in this commemorative activity. The techniques used for this contest were pencil, charcoal, soft pastels, oil pastels, colored pencils, markers, watercolor, and acrylic.

 The art was submitted via email. The canvases measured 18” x 24” and will be showcased at later events. They are included for viewig in this story.

The criteria used to judge the art pieces included composition, technical skill, interpretation and clarity of the theme, creativity and originality, and overall impression.

The Laredo Center for the Arts and International Bank of Commerce provided the prizes accorded to the following:

Category 1 – Elementary
