A virtual Town Hall meeting on Saturday, October 3, will give District VIII residents an opportunity to meet five of the six candidates for City Council.
The Q & A session, which is co-sponsored by the St. Peter’s Historic Neighborhood Association, the Webb County Heritage Foundation, the Río Grande International Study Center, Holding Institute, and the Laredo Film Society, will be moderated by Dr. Jerry Thompson, TAMIU Regents Professor.
Questions will come from panelists Sara Cabello, Margarita Araiza, Tricia Cortez, and Pastor Mike Smith and will cover District VIII’s issues with blight and trash, historic and cultural preservation, the border wall, and the growing homelessness population that makes its home in the downtown sector of the district.
The candidates who confirmed their participation are the incumbent Roberto Balli, Amber Avis Hinojosa, Sergio Dorantes, Kike Pantoja, and write-in candidate Alyssa Cigarroa.
The Town Hall will be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/historiclaredo/
