Laredo Immigrant Alliance, Laredo Film Society and 1472 Film + Media will host a panel discussion on immigration on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. The discussion will be
transmitted live on the organizations’ Facebook pages.
Journalist Valerie Gonzalez will moderate the discussion. The panelists are
Sister Rosemary Welsh, attorney Jessica Cisneros, and Otros Dreams en Acción co-founder Maggie Loredo. The three will share insights on their work in advocacy for migrants both in the U.S. and Mexico.
The sponsoring groups worked together previously in hosting two different virtual screenings of episodes of the Netflix documentary series, Immigration Nation, which was co-directed by Christina Clusiau and Shaul Schwarz.
At the end of the discussion, members of the Laredo Immigrant Alliance will explain to viewers how to become involved in local efforts of advocacy.
