Joseph Minicozzi, AICP, is the featured speaker at the City of Laredo’s Night of Planning on Thursday, February 6, at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center on the Laredo College Fort McIntosh Campus.
The event begins at 7 p.m.
Minicozzi is an urban planner and the founder of Urban3, LLC, an Asheville, NC-based urban planning consulting firm that uses economic data to visualize the impact of policy on community design.
Minicozzi’s presentation is part of the City of Laredo’s ReCode Laredo initiative to rewrite land development code. ReCode Laredo is a follow-up to the City Council adopted comprehensive plan, Viva Laredo, which is aimed at a more connected, sustainable, and affordable future that reflects the values and needs of the Laredo community.
City planner Kirby Snideman urged the public to attend.
“Mr. Minicozzi’s presentation will be a very informative look into how the way Laredo has developed in the past is affecting the City’s financial health. In addition, he will be providing recommendations for the future with advice on how we can improve our situation. He has spoken all over the country on this same topic for other cities.”
