The St. Peters Historic Neighborhood Association is proud to welcome back to St. Peters’s Plaza the 9th Annual Laredo Oil Drippers VW Car Club showcase of vintage, classic, and collector VWs.
The event, which draws about 140 exhibitors from Texas as well as Monterrey, Saltillo, Mexico City, and the frontera communities of Piedras Negras and Cd. Acuña, is set for Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Plaza. Last year saw entries from Dallas and California and about 400 attendees.
Proceeds from the annual fundraiser go to scholarships to three Martin High School students, Christmas gifts for 50 children in Pueblo Nuevo subdivision on State Hwy. 359, and 10 Thanksgiving turkeys for families in need.
Cars will be judged in three categories — Best of Show, Best Interior, and Best Engine. Spanish rock band Bajo Silencio will perform at the event, which is sponsored by L&F Distributors, the City of Laredo, Ancira Volkswagen of Laredo, Elite Employment, and La Posada Hotel, which offers out of town entrant owners a special rate and protected overnight parking.
Ancira Volkswagen will showcase new models in the Plaza. La Costeña – Vilore Foods will give away its jalapeño products, and Elite Employment will be taking job applications to match applicants with job opportunities.
