Center for the Arts hosts Día de los Muertos Cultural Celebration Nov. 1

The Nov. 1 Laredo Center for the Arts Día de los Muertos Cultural Celebration will feature an altar exhibit, a Día de los Muertos-inspired exhibit, hands on workshops, traditional musical and dance performances, food vendors, a handmade art market, an animated film screening, and music curated by The Pop Rocks.

Mayor Pro Tempore Roberto Balli announced today that the event is made possible by a collaboration between the Laredo Center for the Arts, the City of Laredo, the Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo, El Instituto Cultural Mexicano de Laredo, and the City of Laredo Parks and Recreation Department.

The event will take place at the Laredo Center for the Arts at 500 San Agustin Ave. from 5 to 9 p.m.

Among the work featured at the Laredo Center for the Arts exhibit are 30 miniature day of the dead altars that incorporate a gourd, all of them first exhibited at Sala Bravo in Nuevo Laredo at an opening on the evening of October 30.
