The Laredo Film Society (LFS), will host an evening screening of the 1978 cult-classic, Halloween, on Oct. 26 at the Rialto Hotel, 1219 Matamoros Street.
Although the famed film critic Roger Ebert was often critical of slasher movies, he listed Halloween in his top 10 favorite films of 1978.
In 2006, the film was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.” Additionally, the film spawned a franchise and John Carpenter released a new version in 2018, and it is expected to have a sequel.
The screening, which will take place in the parking lot area of the Rialto Hotel downtown, is co-sponsored by CityMakery and 550-degree Pizzeria.
Attendees will be able to enjoy a film screening, along with snacks, beverages and live music after the movie. The event is BYOB and costumes are encouraged.
Pre-sale tickets are $8 at laredofilm.org/tickets and $10 at the door. Halloween is rated R.
