The Border Region Behavioral Health Center will stage an art exhibit Wednesday, October 2, for the Shira De Llano Art in Health Program participants. The show opens at at Gallery 201 from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public.
The exhibit is intended to heighten awareness of mental health during Mental Illness Awareness Month and to engage the community to discuss mental health issues, self-care, health, and prevention.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in five children between the ages of 13 and 18 have or will have a serious mental illness; 20 percent of youth will have a mental health condition; 11 percent will experience a mood disorder; 10 percent will have a behavior or conduct disorder; and 8 percent will have an anxiety disorder.
