A Sept. 26 reception for artist Winter Rusiloski at the Martha Fenstermaker Memorial Gallery at Laredo College marks the opening of a month-long exhibit of Rusiloski’s abstracts. The opening is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Over 20 of the artist’s works from a collection entitled “Gong to the Sun” will be on display through Oct. 25. Admission is free and open to the public.
Rusiloski will offer a free workshop on Friday, Sept. 27, from noon to 3 p.m. She will demonstrate and discuss the use of collage imagery in her work. Participants will have an opportunity to create a painting in the same form.
Space for the workshop is limited. Those interested can sign up at the Visual and Performing Arts Building, room 128.
Abstraction and the vastness of landscapes and horizons inform Rusiloski’s work, as does travel and movement.
In the summer of 2019, she traversed the country from Texas to Montana to compare the desolate Big Bend landscape and the life-filled green spaces of Glacier National Park. Her study was supported in part by funds from the Baylor University Research Committee and the Vice Provost for Research.
