Former San Antonio Spurs basketball legend Sean Elliott and his wife former Laredoan Claudia Zapata Elliott will kick off the Laredo Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 28, on the TAMIU campus.
Registration/check-in time begins at 8:00 a.m., followed by a brief opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. The walk begins promptly at 9 a.m.
Patty Bruni, chair for the 2019 Laredo Walk, said there are still sponsorship opportunities available as well as opportunities for marketing tables/booths for health care and health product providers and Laredo businesses that want to showcase their products and services. For more information, call (956) 744-1911.
Bruni added that walk teams are a vital part of the Walk’s fundraising efforts. “You can register individually or join a team online at www.alz.org/walk
Family, school, and business teams are welcome,” she said, adding that volunteers are needed to help with setting up Saturday morning.
“The annual walk is a meaningful community event for a good cause. It’s fun, too. There’s a wonderful momentum to it. It’s inspiring to see Laredoans of all ages being part of the Walk,” Bruni said.
