August 17 Farmers Market promises variety and good prices

El Centro de Laredo Farmers Market opens at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 17, with a selection of local, homegrown produce, yard eggs, cold pressed juices, pastries, plants, locally raised cacti and succulents, honey, tortillas de nopal, and handcrafted cosmetic products and soaps.

Entertainment at the back-to-school themed market will be provided by the Ricky Ram Band. Attendees are urged to sign up for a backpack raffle.

Among the vendors offering their wares will be Abuela Gaby’s natural guava candy; John Maxstadt Cacti; Danny’s Garden and hand-carved wood; Dewy Organics  Natural Skincare; El Nopal – tortillas de nopal, beverages, and food; Empanadas Lulu; FIT2PLANT – local, organically raised succulents; Gil’s Nursery; Golden Farms quail eggs and meat; Happy Kernel Kettle Popcorn; Hoo Soaps and lip balms; Jujuice Cold Pressed Juices; La Gorra Azul local eggs, honey, and produce; La Rasperia; Manipura Handmade Soaps; Natural Products; Oma’s Homemade Dog Treats; RAVCO – avocado Oil; Rodriguez Bakery; Romero Wood Products; Simon’s Nursery; Sunshine & Lavender – lavender products; and Vella Naturale – natural skincare.

The City of Laredo Health Department will be onsite with a ZIKA informational booth, as will be Laredo Active Living with blood pressure screenings.
