Optimist Club marks 80th birthday; fundraiser set for Sept. 28

The Laredo Noon Optimist Club, founded in 1939, celebrates its 80th anniversary in Laredo with a fundraising family picnic on Sept. 28 at IBC’s Lago del Rio on FM 1472.

Proceeds from the 500 tickets sold at $10 per person will be shared by the Optimist Club and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Club members are now selling the allotted 500 tickets. The $10 ticket includes family entertainment and a menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, water, chips, Frito pie, nachos, and desserts.
