Texas LULAC and Laredo LULAC Council No. 12 will deliver emergency supply donations and tour the La Frontera Shelter at 1616 Callaghan St. Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 a.m.
La Frontera Shelter, which has provided relief efforts during the humanitarian crisis all along the Texas-Mexico border, has assisted an average of 250 asylum seekers daily that pass through the Laredo area.
“LULAC has historically been a leader in times of adversity and is offering assistance and support to La Frontera during this dire national crisis,” said Texas LULAC State Director Rodolfo Rosales Jr.
Other LULAC members participating in the relief effort are Texas LULAC Deputy State Director Roberto Tellez; LULAC Immediate Past National Vice President of the South West Gabriel Rosales; LULAC Past National President Rosa Rosales; and Laredo LULAC Council 12 President Camilla Sosa.
(LULAC is the oldest and largest Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States and Puerto Rico. LULAC was created in 1929, at a time in our nation’s history when Hispanics were denied basic civil and human rights, despite contributions to American Society. For 90-years, LULAC has fought to give the Hispanic population in the United States equal access to the political process and educational opportunities. Currently, LULAC continues to respond to, and combat an alarming increase in xenophobia and anti-Hispanic sentiment.)
