Actor Julia Vera will screen Flavor of Life March 27 at Alamo Drafthouse

The coming-of-age drama which is set in Los Angeles, is directed by Rajesh Golla. According to the film’s synopsis, the story centers about the reconciliation of a weary chef (Pepe Serna) and his estranged grandson to save their beloved Mexican restaurant.

Vera plays the character of Tia Rosa.

Reviewer Luis Reyes wrote, “Flavor of Life is the best magical food movie since Like Water for Chocolate and is a family-friendly crowd-pleaser.”

The Laredo Film Society and Laredo Theater Guild International have organized the event, which will include a post-screening Q&A session.

Vera, who has over 100 IMDb film credits to her name, will be in Laredo as an honored guest of LTGI’s Icons of the Arts Gala event.

Vera has acted in Blow (2001), Real Women Have Curves (2002), and has most recently voiced the character of Luisa in the TV series Elena of Avalar. Her TV credits include Beverly Hills 90210, The X Fies, ER, CSI: Miami, and Dexter.
