The Texas Guitar Quartet returns to Laredo College for a concert on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pvt. David B. Barkeley Cantu Veterans Memorial Chapel.
Formed in 2008 by Isaac Bustos, Joseph Palmer, Alejandro Montiel, and Jay Kacherski, the quartet has enjoyed acclaim for daring interpretations of joyful music throughout the United States, Central America, Spain, and China.
Classical Guitar Magazine has called their music “impeccable in every aspect.”
The ensemble’s first album “Red,” was praised by Guitar International as a “tremendous accomplishment for the classical guitar…the TxGQ perform with virtuosity, clarity, balance and a refined character which will no doubt help to establish them as one of today’s leading guitar quartets.”
Their most recent album, “Icon,” was released last year and features Mozart’s complete 40th Symphony.
The quartet’s commitment to performing outreach concerts has made them part of the Texas Commission on the Arts’ Texas Touring Artist Roster from 2010 to 2018.
