Members of Laredo Daybreak Rotary participated in Rotary District 5930’s Immunization Day Clinic at Mercy Ministries on Saturday, August 25.

The lack of health insurance and other resources cause many adults to disregard scheduled preventive health visits, and for this reason, Rotary District 5930 partnered with Mercy Ministries to offer immunizations and provide health care information.

Daybreak Rotary president Amy Rodriguez spearheaded the effort to assist in providing essential health services for numerous adults in the area. Rotary District Governor Andrew James Hagan saw firsthand the energy, passion, and service-above-self commitment with which  members of Rotary District 5930 undertook the effort.

In addition to immunizations, community members were counseled about medications by WalMart pharmacists who volunteered to help make the event a success.

According to Rodriguez, Mercy Ministries is a beacon of preventive health care services that educates its patients to become advocates for their own health.
