AHEC invites students to apply for Scholars Program

The South Texas AHEC Scholars program will continue to take applications through July 1 for students currently enrolled or accepted to a health or health related profession program and who are committed to completing 40 hours practicum and 40 hours of didactic work per year for two years.

The AHEC Scholars initiative is aimed at students interested in patient-centered team-based care who have a desire to learn about health care challenges that face underserved and rural populations.

Students from backgrounds under-represented in the healthcare system are encouraged to apply.

Stipends are available for participants.

The South Texas Area Health Education Center (ST-AHEC) is comprised of five AHEC Centers in 35 Counties across South Texas. Since the early 1990s, AHEC has been committed to improving communities by providing continuing education for health professionals, educational programs for students, health fairs, public health camps, and various health-centered community engagement events.
